When you visit wanderage.com, we — and the tools we use — may place small files called cookies on your device. This page explains what those cookies are, why we use them, and how you can control them. We've tried to keep this plain and straightforward.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit. They allow the site to remember who you are and what you've done, so the experience feels coherent from one page to the next.
There are two main types:
Session cookies exist only while your browser is open. When you close the tab or window, they disappear. They're used to keep you logged in as you move between pages, or to hold your booking basket while you're choosing dates.
Persistent cookies stay on your device after you close the browser, until they either expire or you delete them. They're used to remember your preferences — such as your preferred currency or language — the next time you visit.
Cookies cannot access other files on your device, run programs, or identify you by name. They only store what the website specifically sets.
Types of Cookies We Use
We use three categories of cookies, each serving a different purpose.
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the site to work. Without them you wouldn't be able to log in, navigate securely, or complete a booking. Because they're necessary, they cannot be switched off — but they don't collect any information that could be used for marketing or advertising.
Examples of what they do: keeping you logged in during a booking session, remembering your accepted cookie preferences, maintaining security during payment.
Analytics Cookies
These help us understand how people use the site — which pages are visited most, where visitors come from, and whether any part of the booking flow is causing difficulty. We use this information to improve the experience, not to identify individuals.
We use PostHog for analytics. Data is collected anonymously and aggregated. If you decline analytics cookies, we simply have less information to guide future improvements — but the site works exactly the same.
Marketing Cookies
When you arrive at WanderAge from a link in a newsletter, a social media post, or an advert, these cookies record where you came from. This helps us understand which channels are bringing travellers to us, so we can invest in the right places and not waste your time (or ours) with irrelevant advertising.
The data captured includes the referring source, campaign name, and the device type you're using. It is never sold to third parties.
Your Cookie Choices
When you first visit the site, a cookie banner will ask for your preferences. You can choose to accept all cookies, decline everything except strictly necessary cookies, or customise your choices category by category.
You can change your mind at any time. To revisit your preferences, click the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. Your choices are saved in your browser and will be respected on your next visit.
If you use multiple devices — say, a laptop at home and a tablet on the go — you'll need to set your preferences on each one separately, as cookie choices are stored per browser, not per account.
Managing Cookies
You can also control cookies directly through your browser settings. Most browsers let you:
- See which cookies are stored on your device
- Block all cookies, or block cookies from specific sites
- Delete cookies individually or all at once
- Set the browser to notify you each time a cookie is about to be placed
Blocking cookies may affect some parts of the site — for example, you may need to log in again more often, or your currency preference may not be remembered between visits.
To opt out of PostHog analytics tracking across all websites, you can use your browser's "Do Not Track" setting, which PostHog respects.
