“My two weeks in Dubrovnik exceeded all expectations. The slow pace allowed me to truly connect with the city and its people. Morning walks along the city walls, afternoon coffees at local cafes, and evening concerts became my cherished routine. The group was wonderful - we're already planning a reunion!”

I was nervous about solo travel at my age, but WanderAge made it effortless. The group became like family, and our local coordinator was always available. Dubrovnik is incredibly safe and walkable. I loved the flexibility - some days I joined group activities, other days I explored on my own. Already booked my next trip!

As a retired couple, we've traveled extensively, but this slow travel experience was something special. Having a full month to explore Dubrovnik meant no rushing, no stress. We took cooking classes, learned basic Croatian, and made friends with shopkeepers at the local market. The healthcare peace of mind was invaluable.

Fantastic experience overall. The city is stunning, the accommodation was comfortable, and the included activities were well-planned. My only minor complaint is that I wished we had more cooking classes - they were the highlight! The slower pace really allowed me to appreciate the baroque architecture and local culture.

At 67, I wanted to travel but didn't want the exhaustion of typical tours. This was perfect. The small group size (only 18 of us) meant personalized attention. Our guide knew the best hidden restaurants and off-the-beaten-path spots. The island day trips were spectacular. I felt safe, supported, and inspired throughout.

We've done river cruises and bus tours, but this was our first slow travel experience - and we're converted! Having an apartment with a kitchen meant we could shop at local markets and cook Croatian dishes. The language lessons were fun, and being in one place meant we could establish routines and favorite spots. Highly recommend!

Dubrovnik
A place is saved in Dubrovnik for someone who travels slowly and lives well.
When to go
Dubrovnik is a year-round destination, but spring and early autumn offer the perfect balance of warm weather, calm seas, and manageable crowds. Summer is vibrant but busy; winter is peaceful and very affordable.
Our Dubrovnik programs run in March–May and October–November — the sweet spot for warm days, quiet streets, and the city at its most beautiful.

Mild temperatures of 18–22°C, blooming bougainvillea, and the Old Town at its least crowded. One of the best windows for slow travel.

Golden light, warm sea temperatures (still 22°C in October), and significantly fewer tourists. Arguably the most beautiful time to visit.
Other times of year
Temperatures regularly exceed 32°C, and the Old Town fills with cruise ship crowds — queues for the City Walls can stretch over an hour. The heat makes long walks uncomfortable and afternoon activity near-impossible. We don't run our programs in summer for exactly this reason.
Many restaurants, boat tours, and cultural sites close entirely between November and March. The cobblestone streets become slippery in wet weather, and the social atmosphere that makes slow travel rewarding is largely absent. Better saved for a future visit.
